MINDEF Statement on Next Fighter Replacement Programme
Posted: 06 Sep 2005, 1900 hours (Time is GMT +8 hours)

In response to media queries on the status of the SAF’s Next Fighter Replacement Programme (NFRP), a spokesperson said that MINDEF is now in the process of seeking final clarifications and contract negotiation with Boeing

weee. that is teh leet.

Probably chose the 15T due to firstly ease of logistics. both it and the F-16s we operate are powered by the F100-PW-229 turbofan, use the exact same american weaponry, both utilize the flying boom air refueling method from our KC-135Rs, which the planned F-35 which we are most probably acquiring are using, hence we can retire the KC-130s which use the hose/drogue and probe method currently used to refuel our F-5S/Ts once they retire. commonality = GOOD.

yankees are also giving us the AN/APG-63(V)3 Active Electronically Steered Array (AESA) radar with 15Ts, and the american operated F-15C-E already has a very powerful albeit mechanically steered radar (APG-63/APG-70), hence the APG-63(V)3 AESA would probably be able to rival that of our neighbours' Su-30s N-011 BARS phased array radars.

15T has a superior range, speed, altitude to its competitor, the Rafale. 15T has a larger radar cross section though, and the rafale is probably more maneuverable. However, the evolving trend of air combat dictates that given the advancement of air to air missiles, whoever fires first usually gets the kill, and a powerful radar, and with superior C3I (command, control, communications, intelligence) network, our AWACS (airborne warning and control system, our E-2C hawkeyes) and ELINT (electronic intelligence) superiority, coupled with more advanced versions of the combat proven AMRAAM (advanced medium range air to air missile), the AIM-120C-7, and high off-boresight infrared missiles (the AIM-9X) would ultimately give us an edge in any air to air combat in the region.

Air to Ground, i daresay the F-15Es, with its capable ground attack radar and wide range of precision guided munitions and unguided 'dumb' bombs, are second to none. And we're getting F-15Ts, souped up versions of the mudhen. 'nuff said.

i shall now dig up an old pic i once had, of F-15s in RSAF markings

yep. a pair of nice 15Ts, with AIM-9M sidewinders, 12 Mk-82 500lb bombs, an AN/AAQ-14 infrared, laser designator and ranging targeting pod

sweet. and all the other stuff that comes with it

Joe Normal
8 % Nerd, 8% Geek, 17% Dork
For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.

A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.

A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.

You scored less than half in all three, earning you the title of: Joe Normal.

This is not to say that you don't have some Nerd, Geek or Dork inside
of you--we all do, and you can see the percentages you have right
above. This is just to say that none of those qualities stand out so
much as to define you. Sure, you enjoy an episode of Star Trek
now and again, and yeah, you kinda enjoyed a few classes back in the
day. And, once in a while, you stumble while walking down the street
even though there was nothing there to cause you to trip. But, for the
most part, you look and act fairly typically, and aren't much of an
outcast.

I'd say there's a fair chance someone asked you to take this test. In any event, fairly normal.

Congratulations!

If you enjoyed this test, I would love the feedback!
