here it is again. the 'festive' chinese new year season. I never really found it enjoyable for many reasons.

The whole place is too red with cny decor. I don't know about you all, but having too much flashy red stuff all over the place with certain inverted chinese characters, lanterns and what not gives the place a rather ancient/traditional oriental feel, something i never liked. I love my room. Its a safe haven from the incursions of chinese new year decorations all over the house and everywhere else. Viva la liberté

Well the main reason of my not enjoying it is not that but the fact that i have to go back up north to that ruddy place to spend my cny. All the cousins i have over there either 1) speak chinese or 2) don't talk to me. That used to be no problem before sec 1, when i was a short white fat boy and just talked to any random person. Now i don't, and since the expanding of social circles, and the advent of various telecommunication devices, everytime i go up north i am cut off from everyone i actually talk to (asides from my parents), and if i do want to make contact (all the time), I would have to pay a hefty 15 times more per sms and dunno how much more per phonecall. Prime example, last year/this year when i was in malaysia for 6 days, my phonebill for that month was around 150 bucks. raah.

I'm going in tmr. Wish me luck. I will survive. Planned egress from hostile territory: ETA 2200hrs, 31012006.

Out.
